The Internationally Known…T&T Owned Company of the Year Award from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce

This Award paid tribute to Angostura’s growth and innovation; testimony to the Company’s resilience and ability to persevere and quickly adapt in the face of unprecedented challenges and adversity. In 2020, Angostura® was also able to achieve growth in its branded business in the export markets of 9.9% or $22.5 million, despite a daunting year-long global economic shutdown directly linked to the pandemic’s impact on society and the adaptability of social behaviour. The Company excelled in the following categories: Growth of Export Sales, Growth/Expansion of Export Markets and Product Innovation. This Award was also a tribute to Angostura’s staff whose support and dedication played a tremendous part in the Company’s success and growth

Business Continuity and Surviving the Pandemic Award from the American Chamber of Commerce

The National Excellence in HSE Awards has become the de facto opportunity for businesses to benchmark their health, safety, and environmental excellence. The American Chamber of Commerce introduced the Business Continuity & Surviving the Pandemic (BCP) Award in 2021, which recognized entities that sought to manage their business response to the interruptions caused by COVID-19 and reviewed/updated their business continuity plans to ensure their operational resiliency. Companies vying for this Award were judged based on their risk management plans, business impact analysis, incident response plans and recovery plans. Angostura® won the Award in the Manufacturing Large Company Category in October 2021.

Innovator of the Year Award from the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association

Angostura® continued its innovative drive during the pandemic period. In 2021, the Company won Innovator of the Year Award from the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) for its outstanding performance in innovative ideas in 2020. The Company launched Angostura® cocoa bitters in 2020, as part of its bid to promote T&T’s local agricultural treasure, cocoa, around the world. Angostura® also expanded its flavoured product portfolio by adding innovative flavours such as White Oak Coconut Flavoured Rum and White Oak Watermelon Flavoured Rum, which contains no artificial flavourings or additives. Angostura® also extended its line of Carbonated Soft Drinks (CSD) to include a new flavour, Angostura Sorrel and Bitters. Angostura® continues to push product innovation and the creativity of our people.

Corporate Social Responsibility Award from the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago

 In a bid to support the COVID-19 vaccination drive in the country, Angostura® produced care packages which included Angostura-made hand sanitizer, surgical masks, antibacterial wipes and hand wash. The Company was awarded for its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic by the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago (SMATT). The Company also partnered with SMATT on several vaccination drives. Over 2,000 COVID-19 care packages were donated across the country through mass vaccination sites. 

Angostura® also donated hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of food vouchers to communities across the country to assist those impacted by the pandemic. In April 2021, Angostura® supported the neighbouring island, St. Vincent and the Grenadines when the La Soufrière volcano erupted and displaced residents, by purchasing and donating relief items to aid in their recovery.

The Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago awarded Angostura® for is excellence in innovative products. The Company remains steeped in tradition but continuously driven by innovation. It continues to have a robust innovation pipeline, releasing exceptional flavours under the White Oak brand line. In July 2021, the Company pushed its innovation into the Carbonated Soft Drink (CSD) category and introduced a Masterbrand for its famous CSD offering, LLB. LLB is now rebranded under Angostura® Chill together with Sorrel and Blood Orange.
