On 1st November 2007, Angostura Ltd. Laboratory was granted Accreditation to the International standard ISO 17025:2005, entitled “General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories”, by the Trinidad and Tobago Laboratory Accreditation Service (TTLABS).
TTLABS awarded Angostura Ltd. Laboratory international recognition for specific alcohol tests performed on spirits, aromatic bitters, flavoured alcoholic products, wines and carbonated beverages.
Carol Homer, Senior Manager-Quality Assurance and Laboratory Services, Analytical Chemist by profession, says that “we are the second rum distillery in the region and the first manufacturer in Trinidad and Tobago to receive this accreditation .”
This international accreditation recognizes the technical competence and proficiency of the laboratory staff to perform alcohol testing.
At Angostura Ltd, it means that the quality of its products has now another formal approval stamp, after the ISO 14000 certification that the company achieved in 1998 and ISO 9000 certification in 1995. “Quality assurance of our products begins with us in the Laboratory, and we now have international recognition to confirm our technical competence” says Carol Homer.
